Michael Martino originario di Framingham Massachusetts (USA), ha studiato l’arte delle vetrate in Milano, presso il Maestro Lindo Grassi dal 1971-1974. Grassi Vetrate d’Arte è uno degli studi italiani più conosciuti nel mondo.

Il Maestro Martino ha realizzato le bellissime vetrate della Parrocchia di Camporella.

Mr. Martino ci ha scritto questa breve email:

I am the artist and crafstman who produced the Stained Glass windows in the church. Today, my daughter pointed out this blog and I wanted to tell you about the day we dedicated the stained glass windows in the church of Camporella. It was a day that we still talk about with friends. Don Luca, the pastor of the church, is a kindly priest, who we have come to admire. After the Mass in which the new windows were dedicated he invited us and the village to lunch. The meal must have begun about 12:30 that afternoon and we have a photo of us all still at the tables laughing and enjoying each other’s stories. In the background is a clock showing 6:15 in the evening. The tables were fill with empty wine bottles and our hearts were fill with joy. I will always be greatfull to the kind people of Camorella and hopefully I’ll be able to return.

Quando eravamo bambini, il giorno della Trebbiatura era quello più atteso di tutta l’estate passata al paese. Fin dal mattino raggiungevamo i covoni posti al “Vlaton” e aspettavamo l’arrivo della trebbiatrice, si vedeva arrivare da lontano, risaliva lentamente i tornanti che dall’Enza portano a Camporella, sbuffando e facendo un baccano del diavolo col cingolato che la trainava a fatica. Tutti gli abitanti del paese partecipavano lavorando intorno a quel marchingegno infernale. Per noi bambini era una festa che durava tre giorni saltando qua e la tra i sacchi e i covoni tra le grida e le risate di una vita agreste e spensierata.

Ho trovato questa vecchia foto con i bambini che giocano al Calcetto di fronte al vecchio Bar Castello.
